Easter Blessings
Aside from gaining five pounds from eating way too many Easter treats and my moms' wonderful ham dinner, we had a fantastic Easter.
We started the day by getting a head start on our sugar quota of the day by eating doughnuts and watching Ryan open his Easter basket. We then got ready and went to the early service at church. Our pastor, as always, gave an inspiring message. You can listen to it here.
After church, we came home to get ready to go to Mamaw and Papaw's house. (Mamaw and Papaw is southern for Grandma and Grandpa, in case you are wondering.) There we filled up on ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beens, yams, baked beans, cole slaw, my sister's deviled eggs and Norm's potato/asparagus salad. (I will post the recipe soon).
We then dug into the desserts and ate cake, brownies, sweet potato pie and my dad's famous chocolate pie. My dad has been sick. He is starting to slowly recover, so it did my heart good to see him feel well enough to bake his chocolate pie. He did it especially for his sidekick, Ryan. He will move heaven and earth for his only grandchild. But for his kids, well, he would tell us that we are on our own.
We then headed outside to find Easter eggs. For once, we had mild and balmy weather to enjoy on Easter Sunday. Ryan decided to turn the tables and he hid the eggs while us adults hunted them down. Norm, who claims to not have a competitive bone in his body, was mowing everyone down to get the most eggs. Then we hid eggs for Ryan. We made it really difficult for him. We wound up hiding the eggs in our pockets, up our sleeves and my dad put one under his hat. It was so funny to watch Ryan try to figure it out at first. But we did leave one egg that we hid in the wheel of one of the cars parked in the driveway. After that, we headed inside to watch the movie "Up", which my mom had gotten Ryan for Easter. Since we had never seen it, well, all I can say is, we LOVED it! It was definitely one of the best Easter Sundays that we have enjoyed over the years. Here are some pics I wanted to share of our day.
Hope everyone who celebrates this special holiday had a Blessed Easter as we did.
